If you’re a wine aficionado or connoisseur you certainly know or want to know better about the ins and outs of storing wine. Wine is delicate and must be treated with utmost care when stored in a cellar to preserve and allow it to age without losing its premium quality.

Some basic tips in terms of wine storage if you’re not planning to drink it right away would be keeping it cool but not too cool. Lights off, especially sunlight as it can degrade and cause prematurely aged wine. Keep the cork from drying out by racking it horizontally as it is space efficient as well.

An ideal temperature for wine storage is 55°F to 57°F (12°C to 14°C). If the temperature is too warm, the fruit in the wine will age prematurely and the cork will start drying out. If the temperature is too cool, maturation is slowed down hence leaves strong tannins and an extremely acidic bite.

With AirComfort, you can track the temperature to make sure it’s within the ideal range. When you’ve chosen the particular temperature value to track using AirComfort, it should remain constant or else the liquid in the bottle will expand and contract.

Humidity is as important as temperature in terms of wine storage. It must be between 60-70% relative humidity to maintain optimal taste. If it is too high or too low, the wine can become damaged and unpalatable. Mold will start to form inside the bottle if the humidity is too high. Discoloration and sour or bitter taste are also result of inappropriate humidity value.

While above you can see suggested temperature and humidity range, you must consider that different types of wine require different temperature and humidity value as well like Full-bodied reds vs. Dry whites.
